Francis (NZ) married Edith Mary (REDWARD)

Mabel Long born in 1895 in Swindon married Ernest Suddrick in 1915 and in 1920 they moved to Hereford.

(Una) was born here in 1922.

Una assumed that the family were all originally from Swindon. She had no idea that 3 of Mabel's uncles and her grandfather had emigrated to NZ.

(from Sue - My husband's maternal grandmother was Mabel Long born in 1895 in Swindon. So Frank and Edith were Mabel's aunt and uncle and Alan and Winnie her cousins.

Peter Long a descendant of Fred Long who emigrated to NZ in 1907.

We also know that Edward born in 1861 went to NZ but don't know when Edward or Frank left England).

First up - John LONG was a veterinary surgeon in Bristol c.1850 (Bath Buildings, Montpelier)

Julia EVANS married Thomas Walter LONG (blacksmith) 30 Westcorn Place, Swindon. They were married at the register office in Bristol on 11/10/1859, Julia had a receipt for space #113, Section C of Swindon Cemetery. Thomas died here in New Zealand in 1915 in Thames. Their son Francis William LONG (Frank) married Edith Mary REDWARD and my grandmother was Winifred Marjorie LONG (sister of Alan).

Julia EVANS was the daughter of Joseph EVANS of 68 Child Street, Bristol.
